The World Health Organization (WHO) defines burnout as “a syndrome … resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.” It’s a significant hazard for the government workforce: 52 % of public sector employees report feeling burned out at work, compared to 45% in the private sector. A third are planning to leave their jobs within the next 12 months.
