The disproportionate impact in Ohio paved the way for Ohio’s General Assembly to pass a comprehensive county land bank statute in 2009. The Cuyahoga Land Bank opened its doors in June 2009 but didn’t transact a property until November of that year, so that each anticipated property pipeline was tested and debugged.

In 2009, the nonprofit Greater Valley Community Services opened their doors in a former Salvation Army building. The fellows are also their engaging curious neighbors with posters and prompts to ask what kind of food they hope to see in their future store.

In 2009, I was appointed to serve on the Community Advisory Committee, representing the Eastern Market Preservation and Development Corporation. Recommendation for how Eastern Market should be managed: an independent nonprofit. We did this in 2008 or 2009. I imagine it was mostly wasted. But I had the basic ideas down.
