In its 2022 annual review, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) advised that over the past 12 months, businesses and organisations in the UK reported hundreds of cyber incidents, many of which were ransomware attacks. In 2021 there was a joint advisory from the NCSC and its international partners on this increased global threat.

In January 2022, the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) unveiled the National Roadway Safety Strategy , and Congress passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that includes a new Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program.

In the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) 2022 Digital Competitiveness Index, Japan ranked 29th out of 63 countries, down one place from last year’s ranking. In September 2021, the Japanese government established the Digital Agency to promote and lead in accelerating digital transformation in Japan.
