According to the Washington Informer article, " DC's new plan to slash its trash ," DC is adding ten years, one decade more, to its waste diversion goal, from 2030 to 2040 That's 16 years!!!!!!!!!! I've written about DC's waste practices for years (" More on zero waste practice and DC ," 2015).

They started planning in 2012, construction in 2014, and opened the first stations in South Florida in 2018. But it's quite impressive in two ways. It's being built relatively quickly. The extension to Orlando is opening later this year.

In terms of overall waste reduction planning, it's essential to include all properties in a jurisdiction within planning (" More on zero waste practice (and DC) ," 2015). This also came up in comments on a recent Post article on composting, " Composting in NYC is hard." WRT solid waste and recycling it's pretty much the same.
