This is not to denigrate the work of resilience managers, as there is obviously much to be done to reduce the risk and impact of adverse events. Hence, public discourse and concerns could conceivably change overnight (as they did in the USA after "Nine-Eleven" in 2001). However, the concept of resilience is, I think, suspect.

DC streetcar advocates are holding a community event to advocate for expansion of the streetcar to Ward 7, which DC Council recently defunded. That there isn't enough social, organizational, community, and financial capital to take up the issue again--to expand it, improve it, etc. A perfect example is the DC streetcar.

But since it opened in 2001, the Kimmel has sent mixed signals about just how welcoming it really wants to be. But the Kimmel, strapped for income, took down the trees and renovated the rooftop perch years ago so it could reap revenue from weddings and other events. Gone was one of the city’s truly fun and surprising public spaces.

Rybak was elected Mayor of Minneapolis in 2001 and was re-elected again in 2005 to serve another term. Louis on April 17, 2001. Clyde Haberman takes on compelling events and people in the news. His blog keeps up to dates with his dealings and policies in his city. Mayor Slay. He was also reelected in 2005 and again in 2009.
