And they had "parking innovation districts" for awhile, but they were idiosyncratic, not systematic, and had many restrictions.

They started planning in 2012, construction in 2014, and opened the first stations in South Florida in 2018. To ride is expensive compared to the regional commuter rail in South Florida and Brightline has had serious problems with crashes with vehicles and pedestrians. Lots of deaths. But it's quite impressive in two ways.

DC does not understand its "unique selling proposition" or "core competency" is being transit- and sustainable mobility-centric. Create sustainable mobility districts and corridors as appropriate, complementing the transit network improvements, especially in the Tysons area, which is planned, but far behind in implementation.

The project took six years to complete, and the station opened in 2012, with full service in 2013. About 13,000 people work there. Conclusion. It's been 26 years.
