In 2009 and a couple times afterwards, I said it was necessary for WMATA to rebuild the regional/metropolitan consensus about support for transit. Regardless of Rahm Emanuel's point about not wasting crises , my observation is that governments aren't good at decision making generally, and are particularly bad during crises.

According to Twitter and other news sources (" WMATA and MWCOG announce new joint transit initiative ," DC News Now) WMATA the operator of regional subway and bus services, and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, are going to start working together. If it wasn't forthcoming, only then cut service.

In 2009, I was appointed to serve on the Community Advisory Committee, representing the Eastern Market Preservation and Development Corporation. I first proposed to the city creating TMDs in 2005/2006. We did this in 2008 or 2009. It's like, how good do you think DC government as an entity is at marketing now?
