It's not in operation because of covid but there is a miniature railroad park, S&S Shoreline Railroad, abutting the trail in Farmington. And yes, they have an Active Transportation Committee focused on developing sustainable mobility options. . No signage for park connections abutting the trail. They did have a sign.
