In August [2022], the hospital system opened its affordable housing project Vía Sana in Cleveland’s Clark-Fulton neighborhood. Instead, he emboldened the hospital's board to break away from the chain in 2009 and become independent. Houston has the highest rate of uninsured residents in the nation, according to a press release from UH.
