I think I stubbornly finished every book I started in 2023 although some of them maybe I shouldn’t have. My plan was to read LESS this year than last year and I did a good job. One hundred and fourteen books. I was busier, happier. I did lower my “books by men” percentage an amount that felt good. average read per month: 9.5

When Mitch Daniels took office as Indiana’s Governor in 2005, one of the top items on his agenda was reforming the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). The number jumped in 2020 and 2021 (the most recent year for which stats are available), first because of COVID restrictions and then staffing shortages. Residents have noticed.

Since 2005 or 2006 I have been recommending that the city create Traffic Management Districts as a way to coordinate transportation management and improvements at the commercial district scale (e.g. for Downtown, H Street NE, Capitol Hill, etc.). And they never functioned the way I suggested (e.g., Vision Zero. The issues are unchanging.
