Note that before the book, there was an article in Fortune Magazine , " Downtown is for people " ( pdf ). It's a very important book, about the recentralization of metropolitan areas focused on center city revival. I actually have the original magazine--from an estate sale in Bethesda, found by Suzanne, not me, but it's in DC. Great images.

In 2005, I served on the advisory committee for the International Public Markets Conference which covered both DC and Baltimore that year, led a tour, etc. In 2009, I was appointed to serve on the Community Advisory Committee, representing the Eastern Market Preservation and Development Corporation. We did this in 2008 or 2009.
