I got involved in Eastern Market because my mentor in historic preservation was one of the people who helped prevent the market from being converted into a food court in the late 1980s. In 2005, I served on the advisory committee for the International Public Markets Conference which covered both DC and Baltimore that year, led a tour, etc.
