Like the idea of individual resiliency, “community resilience is a measure of the sustained ability of a community to utilize available resources to respond to, withstand, and recover from adverse situations” ( RAND Corporation ). This ability to respond and recover from disruption, from crisis situations, is called community resilience.

This was in 2010, shortly after Haiti had been prostrated by a magnitude 7 earthquake. The 2010 earthquake occurred after yet another period of instability, which the United Nations Peacekeeping mission (MINUSTAH) had striven to bring to an end. As bodies piled up on street corners and in courtyards there was no time to count them all.

Since Brady left, the team has languished, really badly.

Years ago I wrote a piece (" Outline for a proposed Ward-focused (DC) Councilmember campaign platform and agenda ," 2015) about what would be an ideal approach to a truly ward-focused Councilmember election and governance platform, including having a dashboard on ward-specific data on traffic safety.
