The study of disasters is a 'lateral discipline' that, to varying degrees embraces at least 42 other disciplines and professions (Alexander 2013). Included are toxic spills, transportation crashes and the effects of human error. (c) Field 2018). Herbane 2010. Why, then, do we not include it in disaster studies per se?
