November top 5 for under 5

Check out this month’s recommendations for upcoming events at the library and around town, and new picture books for children ages five years old and younger and their families, curated by the Youth Services department.

People Share With People by Lisa Wheeler and Molly Idle

Illustrations and simple, rhyming text reveal the importance of sharing everything from blankets and toys to love and respect, but never a sneeze or a frown.

Leyla by Galia Bernstein

Tired of her large, noisy, baboon family, young Leyla runs away and meets a lizard who teaches her to sit alone, be quiet, and do nothing. A perfect book for sharing as we enter the busy holiday season full of family and hullabaloo.

Storytime with Jeff @ jaZams

Join jaZamily member, Jeff, for a fun-filled weekly storytime in jaZams Toy and Bookstore in downtown Princeton. Music, dancing, stories and more! Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Bookscape Babies at Cotsen

This weekly activity for babies ages 0-2  is part of Princeton University’s Cotsen’s Children’s Library lineup of stellar offerings. Babies are encouraged to get active, social, and build those vocabularies in a special play space in Cotsen’s Bookscape Gallery. Soft ramps, tunnels, and plush alphabet letters await! Bookscape Babies happens every Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 12 noon and requires no registration or fee.

Annual Tree Lighting in Palmer Square

Come kick-off the holiday season on the Green at Palmer Square and watch as the town lights all 32,000 lights atop the square’s 65-foot-tall Norwegian Spruce! The event will also include performances from the Princeton High School Choir and School of Rock Princeton. It’s always fun to catch a glimpse of Santa as he makes his appearance at this festive annual event. You never know where he might pop up! Friday, November 29, at 5:00 p.m.
