June 21 may mark the official start of summer, but June 15 marks the beginning of summer reading fun at the library for all ages. This year’s theme is Oceans of Possibilities. Adults are invited to register and pick up a scratch-off card at the library’s Welcome desk on the first floor or the Information desk on the second floor. Scratch off three circles and read one book that corresponds with each category. Return your completed entry by August 15 to be entered into a prize drawing. Kids and teens have the option to register online through Beanstack or pick up a paper log from the Youth Services desk on the third floor. PDFs will also be posted for at-home printing. For Teens and Kids, take the 20-day challenge. Read for at least 20 days (consecutively or not) to earn a virtual badge and prizes. Tickets go on sale June 15 for the Summer Reading Soiree featuring bestselling author Jennifer Weiner, who will discuss and sign copies of her new book, “The Summer Place” at the Historical Society of Princeton’s Updike Farmstead. Tickets are $30 and include a copy of “The Summer Place,” plus sparkling beverages, sorbet and other sweets.
On Friday, June 17 at 4 p.m., all ages are invited to join us for Oceans of Possibilities with Eyes of the Wild. Registration is required. In this program, wildlife educators will present animals that spend some of their time in the water (alligators, frogs, snakes and turtles), and will focus on how animals interact with, use and depend on water or survive without it.
On July 14 and August 11 at 10:30 a.m., join other participants at our Oceans of Possibilities Adult Book Group and share what you’re reading to complete the program. We’ll be meeting outdoors in the courtyard of the Princeton Shopping Center at 301 N. Harrison Street. In case of rain, join us in the second-floor conference room at the library.
