Ongoing Earthquakes in South Carolina

Predicting an earthquake in South Carolina.

There is an ongoing swarm of small earthquakes occurring in South Carolina, dating back to December 2021. Check out “USGS Estimates Chances for Larger Earthquakes Amid South Carolina Temblor Swarm” for the three possible scenarios for what might happen in the near term.

While the rest of the world goes on with life, the ground beneath South Carolina’s residents is sorting itself out. I can imagine the surprise of many people in the United States to hear of a much larger earthquake happening on the East Coast. “I thought those only happen in California” would be a common remark.

On the other hand, it may all just peter out.
