California CIO Academy Recognizes CDT Leaders

March 13, 2023 – Many of the state’s government IT leaders gathered in February at the California Public Sector CIO Academy held in Sacramento. The annual event, which kicked off with opening remarks by both State CIO and CDT Director Liana Bailey-Crimmins and Government Operations Agency Secretary Amy Tong, provides an opportunity for the IT community to share knowledge and explore innovative ideas.  This year’s event featured keynotes by Heather Younger and Cassi Chandler, with several breakout sessions on topics like mentorship, women in IT, and resiliency.

The 2-day meeting concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing the contributions of individuals in state and local government technology. CDT’s own Jennifer Uyeda Issertell and Tracy Lee, assistant deputy directors in the Critical Services Office, were honored with leadership awards, and retired Deputy State CIO and CDT Chief Deputy Russ Nichols accepted the Hall of Fame Award during a standing ovation recognizing his many accomplishments during his 32-year long career.
