This school is located a couple blocks from our DC house, and for the first few years after it opened, they made a big effort to do outreach to the neighborhood, to invite residents to school events, etc., but it fell off. I think this is an element of their " expeditionary learning " approach.

DC streetcar advocates are holding a community event to advocate for expansion of the streetcar to Ward 7, which DC Council recently defunded. That there isn't enough social, organizational, community, and financial capital to take up the issue again--to expand it, improve it, etc. A perfect example is the DC streetcar.

Such an activity should be a key event during National Bike Month, in every major metropolitan area.
