2023 reading list and commentary

This is the thread of the books I am reading this year. One hundred and fourteen books. I think I stubbornly finished every book I started in 2023 although some of them maybe I shouldn’t have. I did lower my “books by men” percentage an amount that felt good. I was busier, happier.

2022 reading list and commentary

I read a lot of books this year but in many ways it wasn’t a great year for me (it’s improving) so I have mixed feelings about the sheer length of this list and am hoping to read LESS this year. I started to read 144 books and finished 142 but kept up with a few I maybe shouldn’t have. average read per month: 12.

There are a number of books published that explore regional foodways and systems, and I think it would be cool to come in hand with a great book on regional foodways. Darrin Nordahl's newest book, Eating Appalachia: Rediscovering Regional American Flavors , explores the Appalachian region.

A big element of the service is providing free books to children (" Clinic's reading room making a big difference for low-income kids ," KSL-TV) Some library systems have special health and wellness collections. Why not create one as part of a community-serving hospital?
